POSITION: Senior Medical Radiation Mammography Technologist

UNIT: Diagnostic Imaging

SALARY: $37.83 - $46.89

Reporting to the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging, and the departmental Charge Technologist, the Senior Medical Radiation Technologist (Sr. MRT) will be responsible for the day to day patient flow and coordination of the Mammography program. The senior technologist will be responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring the policies and procedures that are required for the Mammography program. They will produce mammography images that meet and exceed current standards governed by CCO.  The Sr. MRT will liaise as needed with the chief radiologist around policy development and Protocol changes. Maintaining current accreditation for 2 mammography units.

HOURS:

The successful candidate must be available to work Mon-Fri 07:30-15:30hrs, but may be required to rotate and work 8-4 and work weekends if required.    

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum five (5) years post-graduate experience required
  • Minimum of two (2) years previous leadership experience preferred
  • Mammography experience in a Hospital setting required.
  • Must have minimum Certification in Mammography (CBI)(S)-screening), having (D-diagnostic) is an asset.
  • Current BCLS Certification
  • Thorough understanding of requisitions, Breast assessment workflows, patient follow up, laboratory reports, previous CT reports, ultrasound report, and consents
  • Experience writing exam notes in PACS, equipment instructions, protocols, memos to staff and consents
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of performing all mammography protocols and Stereotactic biopsy procedures and Contrast mammography.
  • Knowledge of CCO wait times and Breast Assessment
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Effective positive interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and create a collaborative team environment
  • Able to develop colleagues and students, to allow them to develop their skills and advance their practice
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to critically problem-solve, prioritize workload and be self-directed
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment issues

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
