Our hospital and busing home is less than 30 minutes northwest of Ottawa, is a multisite and integrated health service organization offering, acute, long-term care and community programs and services. Reporting to the Vice President of People & Community Programs, we are seeking a Full Time, HR Business Partner to support our management team and employees on various HR issues and policies, programs and employment legislation.

The incumbent will be responsible for a wide array of duties including but not limited to:

  • Provides advice and consulting services to managers and staff on a full range of human resources issues including: the application of employment related legislation, collective agreement interpretation and human resources management policies and practices. Supporting managers through the grievance process.
  • Advise and assist on related HR programs such as performance issues, disciplinary matters, attendance, and workplace accommodation
  • Leads and coordinates the collective bargaining process for all 4 union groups
  • Investigates and resolves fundamental labour and employee relations issues and cases to include case / file management, conducting research to include jurisprudence and making recommendations based on findings
  • Liaises with the union executives / representatives to discuss issues, grievances, review / prepare memorandums of settlement, accommodation agreements, etc.
  • Oversees the recruitment process, position occupancy, student placements & volunteers

 Qualifications:

  • University degree or college diploma, and 3-5 years in a HR Generalist capacity in a unionized environment required.
  • Collective bargaining and grievance administration experience required
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to apply employment related legislation to HR issues that arise.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation or in progress in addition to healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Strong written / verbal communication, consulting, conflict-resolution, planning, follow-up and organizational skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive working relationships throughout the workplace
  • Advanced computer, word processing and spreadsheet application skills required
  • Previous experience with Human Resources Information Systems (QHR considered an asset), data management, and producing a variety of reports / HR metrics.
  • Ability to work under pressure and on concurrent project
