We are presently seeking an Assistant Director of Care (RN) with long-term care experience for our location in Ottawa, Ontario.

 The starting date for this position would be January 4, 2021.

This position REPORTS TO: Director of Care.

ROLE: Accountable to the Director of Care, and collaborates with the nursing staff to influence and advance the standard of clinical resident practice and care outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates with the resident care team to improve clinical care practices.
  • Fosters effective interpersonal relationships between residents, families and other interdisciplinary health team members.
  • Works in collaboration with registered staff in the planning, developing and evaluation of Nursing practice.
  • Identifies, analyzes and works toward the resolution of client care problems by leading the programs in collaboration with the Director of Care (e.g. falls prevention, skin and wound care management, continence care management, pain management, bowel management(covered under continence)  and behaviour management.)
  • Advocates for the resident and family to ensure that their rights are upheld,
  • Coordinates and participates in quality management activities in the Home.
  • Develops implements and evaluates clinical care for selected resident based on clinical needs.
  • Identifies and analysis trends in resident care outcomes and practice to clinical standards.
  • Acts as education resource to all members of the resident care team.
  • Replaces the DOC when required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Nurse with a current certificate of competence from the College Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current membership with Gerontological Nursing Association (GNA) and Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) is desirable.
  • Has at least 3 years of experience working as a registered nurse in Long term care sector
  • Has at least 3 years of experience working as registered nurse in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a health care setting, and
  • Has demonstrated leadership and communication skills

Familiar with the RAI/MDS system .
