POSITION: UNIT CLERK II – OR/ Maternal/Child /Patient Registration/SPAC
Primarily Stratford Site
Regular Part-time
(Shifts: 8- and 12-hour days, 7 days/week), may be subject to change

POSITION SUMMARY: As the primary contact person in the Maternal Child/OR Departments the Unit Clerk II coordinates unit activities to promote relationships with the patients, visitors and healthcare professions. In addition, the Unit Clerk II contributes to the efficient function of the Unit primarily through effective clerical and communication activities while maintaining confidentiality of patient information.

REPORTS TO: Manager, Maternal Child

DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible

SALARY: $23.11 to $24.53 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of Grade 12
- Completion of a two-year Medical Office Administration Diploma

Experience:
- One year of recent experience in a healthcare setting
- Previous experience in a Registration Department preferred
- Previous experience with Novari Software an asset
- Previous experience with payroll data entry an asset

Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent time management, communication and multi-tasking skills and the ability to prioritize workload
- Effective interpersonal and exceptional communication and organizational skills in dealing with patients, families and all levels of staff are essential
- Ability to work side-by-side with other members of the healthcare team and interact professionally with peers, patients and other departments
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
- Responsible for a variety of administrative tasks that may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records, transcribing and processing physician orders, etc.

Required Learning:
- Medical terminology
- Meditech and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, etc.)

Preferred Learning:
- OR+ and Array applications
