POSITION: Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Hub Lead
Huron Perth & Area Ontario Health Team
Temporary Full-time


POSITION SUMMARY: The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) and Huron Perth and Area Ontario Health Team (HPA-OHT) IPAC Hub Lead will act as a key member of the Infection Prevention & Control team at HPHA and the IPAC Program at the HPA-OHT. This role will support the implementation and evaluation of IPAC programs in congregate care settings and other healthcare organizations within Huron and Perth. The IPAC Hub Lead partners with other satellite IPAC Hub Leads in the Southwest to develop and deliver educational materials throughout Huron and Perth. The IPAC Hub Lead is a member of the HPA-OHT IPAC Working Group and the HPHA IPAC Committee.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to surveillance activities, acting as an expert consultant, developing and delivering education for interdisciplinary healthcare teams, and linking with external agencies across the continuum of care. The successful candidate will be required to work at the assigned hospital, and any of the congregate settings in Huron Perth based on departmental and operational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
• Regulated Healthcare Professional in good standing with current registration with respective professional body
• Baccalaureate in related field preferred
• Current registration with the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology preferred
• Completion of an Infection Prevention and Control Course endorsed by IPAC Canada (preferred) or Infection Prevention and Control Core Competencies (minimum requirement)


EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum three years’ experience working in healthcare sector.
• Experience in infection prevention and control in long term care and/or other congregate settings is an asset.
• Knowledge of the nature and processes of healthcare associated infections and outbreaks in a healthcare environment, as well as investigatory and medical surveillance procedures, documentation and standards
• Knowledge and training in adult education and /or demonstrated skill in teaching
• Experience in staff engagement, coaching, mentoring
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, and be self-motivated and self-directed
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of healthcare professionals
• Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to deal with confidential information and conflict management
• History of collaborative engagement with stakeholders, both internal and external
• Knowledge in relevant Infection Prevention & Control standards (i.e. PIDAC, CSA, Accreditation standards, regulations and guidelines) and demonstrated ability to integrate this knowledge into clinical practice.
• Knowledge of principles of adult learning and demonstrated effective presentation skills including presentation and discussion of complex information in a manner that establishes rapport, engages, facilitates understanding

• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to motivate and inspire other towards professional excellence and process improvement
• Competency in developing program goals and objectives
• Computer literate and familiar with multiple software programs
• Demonstrated ability to collect, analyse and present relevant statistics for reporting purposes and develop recommendations for improvement
• Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking skills in decision making and problem solving
• Maintain a confidential environment
• Documented commitment to continuing professional development
• Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle
