We are seeking Temporary full time and Temporary part time Registered Practical Nurses (RPN's) with long term care experience for our location in Ottawa, Ontario.

It is located in the heart of the City of Ottawa at 1026 Baseline Road at the corner of Baseline and Farlane, across from the scenic Experimental Farm.

REPORTS TO: Nurse Manager


RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Accountable to the registered nurse for providing nursing care and clinical
intervention and supervision of unregistered staff to meet the unique, special and
holistic needs of the residents using knowledge, skill, decision-making and
communication techniques.


• Practices within pre-set policies and procedures in collaboration with other members
of the health care team.
• Participation in the development and strives to achieve nursing goals and objectives
for the Unit.
• Supports the budget for the Unit and works within its parameters.
• Participates in planning for the nursing and the Units by committee involvement.
• Participates in the Unit programs (e.g.) Occupational Health and Safety Program,

 

Quality Management Program, and Fire Safety.
• Assumes responsibility for medication administration, narcotic control, application of
treatments and dressings, transcription of Physician orders, reordering of
medications, and other skills.
• RAI MDS documentation

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Work in collegial cooperation with:
Nurse Manager
Director of Care
Assistant Director of Care
Administrative Director of Care-IPAC

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Current certification of competence of the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current Medication Certificate which meets the College of Nurses Standards of
Practice
• One year experience in a Long-Term Care Home with knowledge and interest in
gerontology preferred.
• Members R.P.N.A.O./Gerontological Nursing Association preferred.
• CPR certification
• Multilingual facility an asset.
