Dietary Aide

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Under the general supervision of the Manager or designate, the Dietary Aide will perform a variety of duties within a food service operation that is related to the preparation and serving of food, and the washing and sanitizing of equipment, dishes and utensils.

HOURS:

Must be available to work days, afternoons, full or part shifts, including all shifts on weekends and/or statutory holidays. In addition, this position must be flexible to occasional changes in hours when required to assist with Hospital needs and be able to commit to the non-availability standards outlined in the OPSEU Service Collective Agreement.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 

  • Food Service Worker Certificate  (or equivalent education acceptable to the Hospital) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Current Food Handlers Certificate issued within the past five (5) years.
  • Preference will be given to those with a minimum of one (1) year Food Service experience preferably in a Hospital setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize work, prioritize, and take initiative.
  • Team and customer focused with the ability to communicate respectfully in a pleasant, flexible, and professional manner with all patients, families, staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in assignment throughout a shift, and follow instructions as assigned.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated dependable attendance record.
  • Demonstrated previous performance reflective of the Mission, Vision and Values and Code of Conduct of STEGH.

Successful candidates must provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status prior to your first day of work.
