Description

As part of the Nutrition and Environmental Services team, the cook is responsible for the preparation of a variety of food items for patients, visitors and staff in accordance with sanitary regulations. The cook will prepare food for patients that are on regular, modified or therapeutic diets.

Qualifications

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum Assistant Cook Certification
  • Minimum one year experience in institutional or commercial food handling and food preparation
  • Ability to work in accordance with safe food handling practices
  • Must be physically able to stand, reach, bend and lift on a regular basis
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform routine tasks (including but not limited to pot washing, dishes, sweeping, mopping, cleaning, food prep)
  • Knowledge of WHMIS
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets preferred
  • Discipline free personnel file

  • Reliable attendance record
