Description

The Physio OT Technician assists Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Language Pathologists and Fracture Clinic Physicians in the treatment of patients, monitors and organizes Rehabilitation and fracture clinic equipment and performs clerical duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited PT/OT/Rehabilitation Assistant Diploma program, equivalent and/or combination of experience may be considered
  • Experience in Rehabilitation, clinical setting preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge, familiarity and proficiency with PT/OT/SLP current assessment and intervention techniques, including anatomy and pathophysiology, therapeutic outcome measures and therapeutic equipment and modalities
  • Familiarity with relevant Rehabilitation College Guidelines for assistants and demonstrated ability to comply with College Standards for assistants
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computers and windows-based software programs/keyboarding skills
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Current Certification in BCLS and demonstrated ongoing competence through annual re-certification
  • Familiarity with all Rehabilitation equipment and supplies
  • Ability to independently manage and maintain Rehabilitation equipment inventory
  • Independent clinical problem-solving skills, ability to organize and prioritize work within time constraints, and demonstrated sound judgment, and initiative
  • Physically capable of frequent bending, stretching, and lifting and of assisting heavy-needs patients with bed mobility, transfers, ambulation and exercise program. Must be able to stand and walk the major portion of the day.
  • Demonstrated reliable attendance record
  • Must demonstrate a tactful, empathetic, and caring patient approach, and encourage independence
