Position Summary
Community Living Grimsby, Lincoln & West Lincoln (CLGLWL) is currently seeking a Supported Group Living Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of one of our Supported Group Living locations—eventually expanding to include up to three programs. The initial assignment is a home supporting people with complex behavioural needs and mental health needs through evidence- based, person-centred approaches. The successful candidate will need to be proficient in leading a team through mentorship and use sound judgement in high stress situations. Additional program oversight will be added as the service area grows.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Supported Living Services, the Manager is a key member of the Leadership Team and provides coaching, mentorship, and leadership to staff. This role fosters psychological safety, supports skill development, and ensures high-quality service delivery aligned with CLGLWL’s mission, vision, and values, and in compliance with Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) requirements.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to assigned Supported Group Living programs, ensuring high-quality, person-directed supports aligned with individual and behaviour support plans
- Work collaboratively with external clinicians to develop the best supports for people living with behavioural and mental health challenges Promote a therapeutic and supportive environment for people with complex behavioural needs
- Lead, coach, and mentor staff teams to build professionalism and capacity within a learning-focused culture
- Provide ongoing mentorship to frontline staff on best practices in behaviour de-escalation and ensure adherence to any implemented Behaviour Support Plans
- Complete team debriefing after significant incidents, focusing on what went well during the incident and modeling/role play areas of improvement to foster further success in the future
- Support day-to-day program operations including staff scheduling, shift coverage, and compliance with agency policies
- Develop bi-weekly schedules, verify timesheets, and approve payroll submissions
- Ensure team compliance with all mandatory training, with a focus on behavioural support, safety, and risk mitigation
- Actively contribute to organizational improvement initiatives and participate in agency-wide projects
- Respond to emergencies, provide on-call leadership support, and resolve moderately complex program concerns
- Monitor program budgets and ensure fiscal accountability
- Collect and analyze service data to support continuous improvement and decision-making
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or diploma in a relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of five years' supervisory or management experience within the Developmental Services sector, preferably in behavioural and mental health support settings
- Strong understanding of Quality Assurance Measures (QAM), MCCSS guidelines, and relevant legislation, including the Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act, 2008
- Skilled in the implementation and adherence of Behaviour Support Plans
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with community partners
- Proven leadership experience managing teams supporting people with complex needs and behavioural challenges
- Strong skills in crisis management, conflict resolution, and problem-solving
- Sound knowledge of staff development and employee relations practices
- Experience leading change initiatives is considered an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and client/scheduling software
- Valid G-class driver’s license and insurable under the agency’s policy
- Valid First Aid/CPR Level C and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Police Check and Ministry of Transportation (MTO) Driver’s Abstract
