THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting directly to the Director, Finance, the Manager of Finance is responsible for the financial operations of the Hospital, including financial reporting and control systems. This position is responsible for: ensuring that all financial elements are conducted in accordance with Hospital policy and procedure, Hospital compliance with all regulatory oversight bodies (OHRS, MIS, PSAS, BPSPD, CRA), and facilitation of financial oversight and planning, including responsibilities for supporting in-year and year end reporting and audit processes. The Manager of Finance oversees the administrative, human resources, audit and security functions of general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial analysis, switchboard and registration.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role your key responsibilities will include:

  • This role will provide day-to-day leadership for the Finance team, including Registration and Switchboard under the direction of the Director of Finance.  
  • Take an active leadership role and responsibility for Financial Analysis, Financial Reporting and Budget Planning
  • Lead the preparation of internal and external financial reporting, including operating results, financial position, budget to actual variances, forecasts, benchmarking and statistical indicators
  • Lead and coordinate the audit process including interim and year end. 
  • Ensure all Hospital, MOH, OH and BPSP directives, policies and procedures are reflected in the Hospitals internal controls and business processes  
  • Guides, motivates, mentors staff, develops standards of performance and evaluates performance
  • Fosters a culture aligned with the Hospital’s strategic objectives and organizational values
  • Build and maintain a team required to meet the annual objectives of the Hospital.  
  • Uses professional judgment to recommend to the finance leadership, accounting treatments, determine accounting estimates and make appropriate accounting provisions in the financial records of the hospital
  • Ensures compliance with hospital policies, procedures and training requirements for maintaining a healthy and safe workplace
  • Develops and implements new policies and internal controls as necessary
  • Performs other duties as required by the Director of Finance.
 
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

  • Holds a degree in related field.
  • Professional Accounting Designation required (CPA)
  • Consideration will be given to candidates that have had a minimum of 5-7 years working in a progressive finance leadership position in a related field. Preference will be provided to those with experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Reputation for integrity and the highest ethical standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Management Information System (MIS) Guideline and Ontario Healthcare Reporting System (OHRS).
  • Experience working in a non-for-profit organization
  • Diplomat who works effectively with and through others in the complexities of not-for-profit management.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Meditech and Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Excellent financial analysis, problem solving, and forecasting skills and the ability to formulate recommendations.
  • Knowledge of hospital reporting, statistical data and key performance indicators.
  • Ability to manage routine correspondence, multiple tasks/projects, diversified workload and rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines.
  • Ability to coach, advise and teach others.
  • Ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and written; and
  • Commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.

  • Annual salary range $119,000 - $131,000, plus a generous vacation allotment
