THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Director of Professional Practice, Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, Risk Management, and Patient Experience, the Manager, Quality, Professional Practice, IPAC, Risk Management and Patient Experience provides strategic and operational leadership across multiple clinical support and quality domains. This role oversees professional practice standards, infection prevention and control functions, clinical education programming, and workforce development initiatives, ensuring they align with GBGH’s strategic priorities, legislative requirements, accreditation standards, and best practice guidelines. The manager leads and mentors interdisciplinary teams, supports evidence‑based practice, advances clinical competency development, and drives quality improvement, safety, and transformation initiatives across the organization.
In collaboration with clinical leaders, educators, physicians, and external partners, the Manager ensures consistent application of practice standards, supports safe and effective clinical operations, and leads organizational change efforts. Responsibilities include oversight of IPAC reviews and risk mitigation, development of clinical learning environments, management of Clinical Scholars and Extern Programs, staff coaching and performance management, and stewardship of budgets and resources. The role also plays a key part in supporting accreditation readiness, policy development, patient experience, risk management and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement and patient‑centered care.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required; a master’s degree in a health-related field is preferred.
- A registered nurse with certification in good standing in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario standards of practice (CNO).
- Knowledgeable and proficient with the CNO standards of practice.
- Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in either Acute Care or Rehabilitation/Complex Continuing Care Hospital settings.
- Advanced knowledge of IPAC principles, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with clinical education, coaching, mentorship, risk management and/or academic partnerships.
- Experience supporting organizational accreditation
- Experience driving positive patient experience and best practices at an organizational level
- Preference for at least three (3) years of recent managerial or leadership experience. Minimum of at least one year in a leadership role.
- Training and experience in Lean Health Care improvement methods are considered advantageous.
- Commitment to continuous professional development through active participation in relevant continuing education and professional associations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Windows OS, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong email management skills.
- Proven track record in effectively resolving human resource issues through facilitation, collaboration, and negotiation.
- Comprehensive understanding of labour relations, collective agreements, legislative requirements, and medical-legal issues, with a commitment to staying updated on industry changes and risks.
- Strong change management skills demonstrated ability to maintain composure and effectiveness in high-pressure environments with competing priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at working within interdisciplinary teams.
- Successful leadership experience, with a focus on fostering effective teamwork, interpersonal relationships, and stakeholder consensus.
- Dedication to client service and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.
- Professional demeanor, respecting protocol, and confidentiality at all times.
- Proficient in communicating effectively with staff, physicians, patients, and families across all levels of the organization.
- Embraces a philosophy of person-centered care while being committed to GBGH’s Values and Purpose Statement.
- French verbal and written communication skills are considered an asset in this position.

- $127,000 to $139,000, plus a generous vacation allotment
- The successful candidate will also be eligible for up to 5% pay for performance
